Pictured is John Greenheck. Teller of great and interesting stories, due to a great and interesting life. You'll have to ask him to tell you the complete story himself. I'll never give it justice, but I'll give you the footnote version. In a solo hiking trip in Mt. Dickerman in Washington State (North Cascades) he was unexpectedly caught out in the cold, overnight, in complete darkness. His only source of warmth, light, and life, was his copy of Hemingway's "Old man and the Sea". He burned each page, one at a time using his last wet match. He has since kept the remaining burned pages as a little reminder of his struggle with the mountain, and the knowledge that, "Hemingway woulda been proud of me!".
